Komunitas Potret, di mana tergabung di dalamnya mahasiswa/i asal Manggarai di Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat (FKM) Universitas Nusa Cendana Kupang, aksi ini dilakukan sebagai bentuk kepedulian terhadap Kota Kupang juga yang salah satunya masalah terbesar adalah sampah”.
Sampah yang di pungut merupakan sampah Rumah Tangga seperti; plastik, pampers, sisa-sisa potongan sayuran. Sampah – sampah tersebut diangkut menggunakan mobil Pick up ke Tempat Penampungan Sementara di (TPS) depan pasar Penfui, Kota Kupang”, demikian dijelaskan Agustinus Karius Yosi, selaku Koordinator kegiatan Pungut sampah di sekitar area penghijauan Bukit Cinta, wilayah RT 10/RW 04, Kelurahan Penfui Timur, Kota Kupang. Sabtu, 01/02/2020.
Agustinus berharap, kegiatan pungut sampah yang kami laksanakan sampai bersih tuntas ini dapat menggugah kesadaran masyarakat, terutama Kaum Muda untuk terlibat secara aktif dalam kegiatan peduli lingkungan, salah satunya tidak membuang sampah sembarangan, harus peka dengan keadaan lingkungan sekitar karena sampah yang di buang sembarangan selain merusak lingkungan juga sangat mengganggu pemandangan serta menimbulkan bau tak sedap saat kita melewati daerah tersebut, harapnya.
Menurut Elisa Vanti, sebagai salah satu anggota Potret yang juga ambil bagian dalam kegiatan tersebut mengatakan bahwa kegiatan ini adalah bentuk tindakan nyata kami sebagai calon tenaga kesehatan masyarakat untuk membangun perhatian serta kesadaran masyarakat untuk menjaga kebersihan karena di balik badan yang sehat, ada lingkungan yang bersih, jelasnya.
Saya juga berharap kedepannya partisipasi dari pemerintah setempat agar memberikan aturan yang tegas bagi mereka yang membuang sampah secara sembarangan didaerah tersebut, harap Elisa.
