Di era digitalisasi ini, kata Iqbal, tentu menimbulkan ekses yang negatif, sehingga terjadinya revolusi king of fake atau maraknya berita palsu hingga bias informasi ditengah-tengah masyarakat yang menjadi salah satu faktor penyebab gangguan keamanan dan ketertiban masyarakat.
“Pada intinya, menajeman media itu bagaimana menekan isu negatif dan menaikan isu positif,” tekan Iqbal.
Untuk itu, sambungnya, tidak berlebihan jika Kapolri, Jendera Pol Drs. Idham Azis, M.Si., dan pendahulunya, Jenderal (Purn) Tito Karnavian, menempatkan menajemen media sebagai program prioritas.
“Karena dilingkungan baik global maupun regional telah menghendaki Polri untuk melakukan pemetaan media secara profesional,” jelas Iqbal.
Mantan Wakapolda Jawa Timur ini mengatakan, pada prinsipnya semua Kementrian dan Lembaga membutuhkan restu dari masyarakat, dan media merupakan representasi dan suara dari masyarakat. Untuk itu, kata Iqbal, selain membangun sistem, Humas Polri juga menjalin kemitraan terhadap media itu sendiri.
“Kita komunikasi intensif kepada media, bukan hanya ketika ada masalah saja, kita curi hatinya,” tegas Iqbal.
Dengan manajeman media, Polri bisa menjadi pemain dalam menentukan isu, mengelola hingga mendiktenya.
“Saya pernah disampaikan oleh bapak Kapolri bahwa Kadiv Humas itu bukan lagi sekedar juru bicara, tapi dia tampil sebagai king maker,” papar Iqbal.
Iqbal menjelaskan Humas saat ini menjadi bagian pentig bagi semua Satuan Kerja (Satker) di setiap Polda. Ia mencontohkan pentingnya peran humas ketika ada pengungkapan sebuah kasus yang menjadi perhatian masyarakat jika tanpa di amplifikasi dengan baik tentu sangat disayangkan.
“Karena media itu dapat 80 persen dapat mempengaruhi persepsi publik,” ujarnya.
Pada intinya, Iqbal menambahkan, dalam rangka strategi manajemen media harus piawai dalam mengemas narasi. Hal ini menjadi keharusan jika narasi yang dikemas dengan baik dan pas tentunya akan berdampak positif.
Misalnya kejadian begal, lalu karena marak di sosial media menjadi faktor pembentuk opini publik daerah itu tidak aman. Nah ketika itu bisa diungkap, lalu diberitakan masif hingga viral tentu akan merubah persepsi publik.
